Sometimes cats aren't too good about it but they usually don't realize it. Sometimes the reason for them not covering is not enough litter to cover with or you just need to find a different type of litter box like one of the ones that cleans itself. It's more expensive but its a good investment if you have a cat who won't cover their poo.

It's pretty common. Some cats never cover their poop. My cat is almost 7 years old and I still have to cover hers with the shovel.

A covered litter box with a charcoal filter should help.

Some cats never learn the details... One of my cats does the same, I simply cover it up.

when you realize that he hasnt covered up the poo take the cat back into the room and bend down with him take his paw and show him how to do it with his own paw, after you do this for a while it should make him do it on his own

He may have never learned that from his mother or littermates. Try to make sure there's plenty of litter in the box for him to dig around in.

We have one like that as well, she didn't at the shelter we adopted from and she doesn't now. I don't know that there is a whole lot that you can do, except bury it yourself, and if necessary clean the box more often than usual.

Remove the poop as soon as you smell it. I have the same problem and I also have dogs who LOVE the crunchy munchies, so I have to be Johnny on the spot...hahahahaha!
