Mark chapter 10

47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. 48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me. 49 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee. 50 And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. 51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. 52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

Okay, Maurice, let's review.

First of all, it's spelled "atheist." You don't help your case by not knowing how to spell the term for the group you're maligning.

So you are actually contending that every blind, deaf, lame, and mute person who still suffers from their affliction is not faithful enough?

You contend that the comatose remain in their comas due to insufficient faith? Incidentally, it's spelled "vegetable." Again, hurting your case.

Okay, the dead thing really confuses me. I thought the whole point of honoring your stated belief was the eternal reward that allegedly awaits you up in Heaven. If Jesus is bringing them back to life because they're so faithful, he's KICKING THEM OUT OF HEAVEN.

Welcome to logical inconsistency land!

Question for you, Maurice. Why do Christians need Braille or audio Bibles for the blind?

While you're at it, tell me why churches have handicapped parking.

Tell me why various religions run hospitals, Maurice. Baptist, Catholic, and many others. Just make the churches bigger and everyone will be fixed, right?

Remember, Maurice...next time one of your family members has anything bad happen to them...don't feel sad. They just weren't Christian enough.

I await your response.

This is one of many reasons atheists are unlikely to convert - You are a Christian, You are an idiot. Therefore...

If we accepted everything in the Bible as historical data, we wouldn't be atheists. Since we are atheists, clearly we do NOT accept everything in the Bible as accurate. So why on earth would you use examples FROM THE BIBLE as evidence of miracles performed by your God? I mean, seriously, what the hell is wrong with you?

Have you ever read the Book of Job? It's part of your Bible, maybe you should look into it. Sometimes your God makes terrible things happen to people EVEN THOUGH they are just as faithful as can be. God ruined Job's life because he had a bet going with Satan. So no matter how much Job prayed or how faithful he was, his life continued to get worse and worse so that your God could be entertained.

In other words, your explanation of how God heals the faithful isn't even consistent with your own godawful religion.

Are you asking us to explain why you make up false stories like this? I assume it's because you don't have real faith, and believe instead that you can concoct "evidence" for your false beliefs.

You'd really do a lot better to stop posting this kind of thing, and instead think about your problem. You're certainly not doing your religion any good with this kind of obvious dishonesty. I can't imagine that any of us are interested in becoming childish liars.

Later: let's make that a little more clear, in case it escaped you. Did you notice that the Bible extols "faith"? Now, you're claiming that there's all sorts of evidence out there that god exists. If that were true, why would there be any need for faith? If there were a god running around doing all of these miraculous things, then belief in that god wouldn't require anything more than belief in (say) cars and trees and airplanes. There'd be no need for faith, and there'd be nothing special about being a believer.

So why do you support there's all of that emphasis on faith? Because in fact there _isn't_ any evidence for the existence of a god.

So when you claim that there's all of this evidence, you're denying the role of faith in religious belief. You're essentially demeaning belief in god, reducing it to nothing more than belief in trees and cars and the like.

So why would you do this? I think it's obvious: you don't have faith, and you're desperate to deny the fact that disbelief is the reasonable response to what the world looks like. You want to believe, but your faith is simply far too weak; and furthermore, you enjoy insulting others, but you're not smart enough to come up with a reasonable insult, so this is all that you can manage.

You screwed this up badly.

To begin with, there is no evidence that any of those miracles ever happened. Second of all, there have been many cases of "faith healing" where the patient has died because they stopped taking the prescribed medications. And third, people of other religions could make the same argument that people who followed their religion were healed while others died because they didn't follow "the right religion"

"Give a man a fish, and you'll feed him for a day. Give a man religion, and he'll starve to death praying for a fish." ~ h.e.r.b

I dunno...

My dad got a serious staph infection in his right leg and the doctors were gonna amputate it but it healed up and is now fine. Later on he was in a sandrail crash and broke about 2 dozen bones including his neck and back, doctors told him he'd probably never walk again, but he's now fine.

My mom was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy and less than 5% of all diagnosed with MD recover fully. My mom not only recovered fully but is now stronger than she was.

Both are Agnostic. I guess "god" performs miracles on those whom are not faithful to persuede them to follow him?

Im not buying it.

Let me assume (ammusedly) that all of your claims are true, even in the absence ofcredible evidence. All they establish is that belief can effect physiology, which is already known (placebo effect). None of these examples establishes anything about the object of belief (God) being real! Sorry, back to the drawing board.

How do you explain when these so called miracles happens to people who claim to be hindus, muslims, buddhists, atheists or jews?

Anyway, a bunch of unsubstantiated claims isn't going to convince many people.

So why did those people get sick in the first place? God's Fault Maybe?

What about people who aren't Christians? Are they just screwed?

What about unconditional love? Apparently God isn't in to that?

Inspite of the fact that again yesterday 40,000 kids died of starvation and aids, people still claim that God heals diseases. They post video's online with all sorts of 'miracle healings' and claim that as proof of the existence of God.

There will be people watching that nonsense and stop their medication. There will be people watching it, stopping their medication and therefore they will die. They will die because they saw this video and based on it they will make a wrong decision.

The claim "God heals", kills people. It's as simple as that.

The 40,000 children Africa that died today of starvation and aids, they believed in the wrong God? That's your actual 'loving' statement?

All I have to say to you about that is: please, go to heaven!
