"Too smart for your own good" simply means that you are so confident that you have all the answers to all the questions you want to ask that you overlook the answers to those questions that you should ask.

They are Jealous of your freedom, and they believe that you are a soul with out a purpose who looks deeper then necessary to exist.
In my opion, I'm often insulted when I hear this statement especially if it's about me. Usually beause the person advising me is clueless and has a ton of their own problems they can not solve.
May your journeys always be bountiful, and my you never be alone, but remeber this indpendence is not with out lose

Remember most believers are still freaked out by the "Eating From The Tree of Knowledge" thing. They get very uncomfortable when other people know to much and ask too many questions.
So, basically, "you are too smart for your own good" means "I'm dumb and I like everybody around me to be dumber."
Happy Holidays

The expression usually refers to someone who thinks they know more than they actually do - someone who is arrogant. It can also mean that the person asking the question does not understand you and is the one that does not understand you at all, or what you are thinking, and that they think they know better than you, even if they don't. Fly on, Queztal.

Believers think you are "too smart" when you start listening to reason and science... and begin to question the existence of God.

My ex always used to tell me that when I called him on his BS. I think it's that people want you to be as ignorant as they are.

It means they think you are smarter then they are and they don't like it, especially if you are younger.
