I've seen much more information about beneficial bacteria in yogurt than in sauerkraut. In USA, yogurt containers list beneficial bacteria, such as acidopholus, and you can find studies about the benefits. I haven't seen information like that for sauerkraut.

Canned sauerkraut would have been boiled at the time it was canned, which would kill bacteria. You'd need fresh sauerkraut to get probiotics.

Also, some of the info on yogurt-based probiotics is published by the dairy industry; maybe the cabbage industry will get involved later and we'll see interesting facts about sauerkraut!
