Cold showers have the following positive effects:

*Brings blood to the capillaries, therefore increasing circulation throughout the body.

*Cleans the circulatory system.

*Reduces blood pressure on internal organs.

*Provides flushing for the organs and provides a new supply of blood.

*Strengthens the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems.

* Contracts the muscles to eliminate toxins and poisonous wastes.

* Strengthens the mucous membranes, which help resist hay fever, allergies, colds, coughs.

Many health problems are reduced or even eliminated over time by providing proper circulation of the blood to the affected area using the cold shower massage.

Yes. A shower which is too warm or hot dries out the skin. The water should be as close to room temp as possible. I've been told not to take hot showers because I'm diabetic & I know some heart patients aren't suppose to. Also, when I went to a health spa there was a sign telling us not to spend more than 5 min in the sauna or hot tub. It didn't say why but it was for health reasons. So all things considered, lukewarm showers are best for one's health.

I don't know if there is a benefit to a lukewarm or cold shower but I do know that after you take a sauna it is good to take a cold shower to close the skins pores up.

take a look at this link about cold showers

Another benefit of cold showers is that your skin does not dry out. Hot water causes your skin to dehydrate because it evaporates the water in it. If you take colder (or at least lukewarm ones) and drink plenty of water, you'll be fine.

I used to swim and our indoor pool was anywhere between 78 and 85 degrees, plus the hot showers I would take afterward caused my skin to itch uncontrollably.

You'll clean up your act, not to mention being aware of every part of your body in a good healthful environment.

Can't hurt, at least your getting clean. As for a direct benefit, not that I have heard of.
