Every time I hear about apple pie I think of something my Auntie Tat used to say:
"A slice of pie, without the cheese,
is like a kiss, without the squeeze."
Then again, she was born in 1899.
I'd go with ice cream.

ice cream is a classic. And cool whip should be used more for other things, like on top of fruit.

I have a friend that prefers cheddar cheese. I would stick with French Vanilla Ice Cream.

Cool whip is a non-dairy product. If you have anybody that has a lactose problem, it might be better to serve that.
