Well, I generally give both my cat's and my dog, some canned food as a special treat during the holiday's, and yes she will understand, because both my cat's were at the cupboard meowing in harmony this morning, and this is the only day that they get soft food (cause their both kinda fat, and the vet said keep em on dry...not cause I'm mean lol) In fact ever since my cat saw the presents wrapped, she's been opening the cupboard herself and looking in, so yeah they definitely understand, even if it's only one day a year.

The Christmas's treat for the cats was letting them play with the used wrapping paper, and boxes.

I talk to my cats all the time every day like they are a friend. I cannot keep them off my bed though, because they seem to love me a lot.So yes, I guess they understand affection like any other animal.

You could take her to a store like Petsmart and find a bunch of toys for her..She probably wont understand that its for an occasion, but shouldnt she be treated speacial everyday anyway?

thats easy, get some cat nip- get her favorite treats- buy her some toys, and spend some extra time with her today.
