I don't worship technology, but at least I know it exists.

In a thousand years time when we've finally abandoned all religions and consigned them to the dustbin of history where they belong then anyone who said what the pope said on christmas day in his speech would be put in a strait jacket and locked away.
It just goes to show how primitive we still are as a society that lunatics like the pope not only pronounce this garbage with immunity but the world's press actually give it air time on the networks.
And just in case there are any retard christians reading this text then just try reading Richard Dawkin's The God Delusion if you want to see the light. However, be warned its probably a bit to intellectual for simple folk like you.

To Devil's Avocate;
He doesn't have a plasma TV. The Pope warns about using too much of technology. You heard the phrase, too much for everything is bad for soul.
It rings true. The Pope says that technology should not interfer with your prayer life with God. God comes first. All other material things comes second, and should be used in moderation. The Pope is not a hypocrite. I would be careful not to make harsh judgment upon him, least you be judge by God himself.
If you think we worship technology why are you in this forum and on yoru computer bashing the Pope? What authority do you have?

I am not Catholic but in defence of the Pope I believe that what he means is worship God on Sunday(especially) and visit the sick and the elderly and don't sit in front of that plasma and watch that all day, or don't go boating on the Sabbath, spend the day with your family and worship God. In other words get your priorities straight.

Erm...Shoot the Pope! Science has proved time and time again that there is and never could have been a God in the strictest sense of the word. But my personal opinion is that if the "word" God means all things good, then that cant be a bad thing can it. It's all in our heads and hearts. Apparently the rumour is that he wrote the best selling book of all time...The Holy Bible. I must try reading it all some time...I love a good fiction novel

There's a big difference between owning something and worshipping it. Actually I should say there is a big difference between using something and worshipping it, since the Pope doesn't own anything.

i think the Pope's doesnt mean that don't listen to music of watch tv or whatever, but his point is that we spend so much time of the day using technology such as the net, tv, radio, music etc and no time for worshipping (in ANY religion) and we should be spending more time worshipping God.

That's true
We shouldnt give praise and honor to the technology for everything we have;but praise and honor belogs to God
That doesnt mean men and women of God cant posses theese things; just that we should be thanking God for what we have the the machines themselves
Praise the Creator; not the creation.

Yes, the Pope has an iPod. How does that make him a hypocrite? You don't think it is possible to have an iPod and NOT worship it?

I have to agree that technology is bad, look how sinful our world is because of it. We see girls shaking booties on the tv and lunatics singing stupid things like "back that @$$ up" and whatever....ugh. Cars that destroy the earth's ozone layer or whatever it's called. But we can't stop it unless we get struck by a meteor or something to wake us up...
Didn't the pope wear Prada shoes and Gucci sunglasses? hmm

At least he has one thing right so far. And as far as God providing you with all you said, yes he did. If you work to pay for it, and have a good job, who gave that to you. GOD did. And before someone says that you have learned in school, collage, or wherever you got that knowledge to get that wonderful job, who gave you the knowledge. God did. If you follow Him it is called Blessings, if you do not follow Him you have your reward now on earth, and that is ALL you will ever have, but the reward after this life is over is far more greater than whatever we have here in this life.
