actually , not ALL men have that same pattern of baldness .
the answer is simple , as men age , the HAIRLINE recedes .
if you examine any YOUNG man , you will find the hairlines or edges of the hair are more than one , for example we have one at the top of the forehead, and one at the back of the head , but the one that is not usually considered a hairline is the area of relatively few hairs that is in the middle of the top of the head .
so depending on which hairline is affected most , some get a big empty space in the middle of their heads , other people's foreheads appear to grow bigger and reach to the middle of their heads ,other people lose hair from the back of their heads etc etc .
if you ask why would the hairline recede in the first place?
it is thought to be genetically determined, however the male hormone TESTOSTERONE has a clear role in causing the hairloss which can be proved from the hair loss that affects WOMEN ATHLETES who use MALE HORMONES as performance enhancers .

Men don't actually go bald... their hair migrates. Hair goes away from one place, and appears someplace else.
