It's available three ways...
1) Plain, instant release tramadol, brand name Ultram)
2) 24-hour extended release, brand name Ultram ER
3) tramadol with acetaminophen, brand name Ultracet.

I used to take tramadol in the formulation known as Ultracet for chronic back pain. It works fairly well for that, but I noticed some mood altering side effects. The doctor told me it could be habit forming but I never experienced that aspect. Only took it when it was needed. I do not remember the drug interactions.

The great thing about tramadol is that, unlike most narcotic pain relievers, it is not very addicting. It is not quite as strong as narcs, but without all of the side effects and addiction risks. My wife takes it occasionally for migraines.

They had it in Germany since the 60s. it took our stupid drug companies till the late 90s to sell it here. A safe pain killer.
