Unless you feel like you truly know that this person is telling the truth about himself, then never set up a date to actually meet.
Sometimes, webcams can be very useful to see who you're actually talking to, but they have also become used for perverted reasons, so watching someone's cam is a risk in itself.

you should make sure he's the guy who he says he is- ask for details of his life in a subtle way, by giving some details yourself first. if you decide he seems to be ok, then try to meet him in a public place. maybe he's just shy or maybe he has gone through some disappointment and doesn't trust people a lot. on the other hand, there are so many perverts all around, only trying to have sex online using their webcams...take care but don't give it up- you might have met the right guy.
oh, btw, not ALL relationships starting online suck- just most of them; 1% can lead to real love...

Partly, you will have to trust him.
One thing you can to to know more about his true identity though - chat with things about his life - work, school, etc. Tell him about your life. Then send him pictures of things that aren't private - but that prove that you are the person you say you are - business cards, pictures in front of your school, etc. Ask him for the same - for places you have talked about before asking him this. When he can show you pictures like this, it will allow you to trust him more that he is who he says he is.

Making Online chat friends are great. I m a guy.....and i also make friends as well.But u have to be careful ...because not all of them r true & friendly....if u like him and want to know something about him....ask him clearly...like birthplace...age...etc.then if u have any doubt....tell him to give u proof...if needed....after some years .... if he stays with u...and u become to trust him....tell him to meet in certain place...if u like him...propose him of tell him u see him as a friend nothing else. I) You have the key to reach upto him i.e mobile. Give a call at odd hours during day time with different names saying that you are calling from ........call center and get his actual address.

Accrding to me u should first see him on cam. Coz according to me face matters a lot. U should alway talk with him on cam to cam. Or at least onces u should talk on cam with him.

the best way is to ask him to meet you in a place.make the place a PUBLIC place,so you can shout for help if something goes wrong.
