This means you should not expect the person you date to be committed to you. Know that he or she has not chosen to be exclusive, but rather intends to see other people if the opportunity exist. Let this be a warning sign that this relationship may not go any further than it already has. This is a part of getting to know each other - sometimes there is chemistry and sometimes there's not.

an open relationship is a relationship where one person does not own the other. the couple are not exclusively seeing each other and can date, flirt and hook up with other people should they wish to do so.
now, if you'll ask me if it could work? well, i don't think so. now this is not to say that a man and a woman can't find themselves getting together regularly for recreation and copulation. happens all the time. but let's not fool ourselves -- if someone you know wants an "open" relationship, all he really wants is permission to fool around.

it's just casual, it means ur dating but not seeing each other exclusively. it could mean a more serious relationship later but for now ur both allowed to date around while still dating each other.

That you and him are not exclusive to one another, you are kind of boyfriend and girlfriend and at the same time see other people when the opportunity arises. If you are smart, you won't be in one of those, I believe that if someone has respect for you, then you are they only one they see.
