how can I make a copy of a cd for my own use I am quite new to all this so would need a step by step guid this

You need a computer equipped with a cd/dvd burner and some burning software (ex. Nero or Alchool 120%). All you need to do is insert the original cd in your drive, open Nero an click on copy disk. It will create an image and when it's finished it will ask you to insert a blank cd. Of course you are not allowed to copy copyrighted material (because it's illegal).

I'm quite new to this too, but managed to make my own Christmas album up from various CDs of my own, I put Cd in drive and on the screen theres options when playing if you can find "RIP" it will rip all tracks or you can select which you want, I found it easier to rip all album then deleting the ones I didn't want Using right click ( took me some time To work that bit out ) then put blank Cd in and select which ones you want to "BURN" you should be able do this OK, Good Luck! Just use nero burning rom . open nero express and then choose the option 'copy the entiire disc'
or
insert the disk
open my computer ,select your cd rom
select all files
copy and then paste it on your local hard disk
open nero express
then select the file format (like if u are using mp3 songs then select mp3, if it is a game disk select data disk)
add the files from where u have paste it ,using add button
then burn the cd

if u have 52x cd rom or dvd rom then select the buring speed as 24x or 16x
