Well I don't know how old you are, but, it is your parents home, they pay the bills, so they can make their own rules. & You should respect them in their home. I know they can be crazy at times. Someday, when you have kids, you will want them to respect your home and wishes, no? Your just paying your dues.
I say, don't fight with them, do as they ask , and they will probably lighten up. If not, as you said, you can leave at anytime. But with all those animals it sounds like your going to need a very big place. Also, you could offer them a little rent money, and maybe that will show them that you are acting as an adult, and niceley tell them you don't appreciate them snopping in your things! Good Luck. & We all went through this at one time or another. Most of the time parents snoop, it's for a good reason! They care!

Firstly we teach others how to treat us, so I suggest you take close look at your behaviour around to figure out why do they don’t treat you as you want them to. Taking the responsibility of their behavior towards you would help the situation a great deal, as you would then treat yourself better around them and beyond.

If you start treating yourself respectfully around them they would learn that soon enough, especially when it comes to crossing some boundaries you are now not comfortable with.

Before you jump into conclusions like leaving your home, do give them a chance to change and yourself too.

After all you have stayed with them for so long and even tenants give their landlords some grace period, why don't you too. Who knows things might turn out to be better than before as you start asserting yourself around calmly and in a dignified manner.

Hope it all works out well for you this New Years.

All the very best with that!

Good luck finding a place that will accept you and your pets. When you move out you will find your folks weren't so awful; after you contend with managers, landlords and neighbors in the next apartment.
Be grateful your folks haven't kicked you out. If you were showing responsiblity they wouldn't have to snoop in your room or check into your 'business'.
Merry Christmas!!

4 horses, a dog, cat, and rabbit ... hmmm, sounds like your parents treat you HORRIBLY.

I would move out today .. why wait a year ?? You should move out RIGHT NOW .. and then you will learn to respect your parents.

Pick me for best answer !!

P.S. Right, you bought all the animals yourself because your parents have been paying your room & board, food, clothing, gas & elect, insurance, medications, etc, etc, etc ... Life gets tough - then you die.

The easies way out is that you disown them and find new parents! Let me ask you- how do you get along with other people? Or let me rephrase the question- How others get along with you? I guess your poor parents have no choice otherwise they would have disowned you a long time back.

Get a lock, otherwise your gonna have to bare with it since you are living in your parents house. As long as you do inherently they can do whatever they want as crappy as that can be. And I don't think it is realistic to bring that many animals with you, you might need to leave em behind minus maybe one or two choces other then the horses.

wow, got a lot of critters to take with you- not to mention the expense, maybe that was their goal- to get you out with all your pets? they are your parents and it is their job to be nosy- remember this when you have children- live is a good teacher to those who don't take advise from the ones that lived it!! just be polite and respectful and maybe plant something in your room for them to find-- (as a joke) dry some real weeds and leave them in a baggie--ha hahahah well, maybe not- that could get you arrested or kicked out- but it would be funny.

Well, are you being good to them? What is behind this ill feeling? It is good that you are moving so that there will be distance, but you have to look at yourself. Do you understand your parents? Maybe they are not entirely in the wrong.

You just have to deal with it. You have the ability to move out but you seem to have put it off so you kind of have NO excuse to complain.
