I bought my girlfriend a necklace that has the first letter of my name on it. but not hers, is that bad?

Not bad, to some it may be considered odd. Did she not like it? It is your gift to her and what you wanted to give her, so she should love it.

It isn't good; at best it makes you appear self-centered and at worst, possessive (like, are you planning to get her a "Property of" on Valentine's Day?
Only way to bail out it is to tell her you wanted to get something that had both of your initials to signify your joy of being together with her, but you really liked the one you bought her, only it didn't come with both of your initials and her initial was out of stock, so you were planning on buying a second necklace with her initials for Valentine's Day to make up for it and she can wear two together.

It's not TERRIBLE if she's pretty attached to you, but it's kinda like she's a cow and you're the rancher and you've branded her... "this woman is now the property of ME!"
I guess wearing jewelry w/ your signif. other's init is better than say a tattoo cuz you can take it off....
If you really want to make a statement get something with HER initial on it and YOU wear it and that way you guys are even , ya know?

I think that is so sweet and cute. Great job picking out the gift, but maybe she should have a necklace with your initial of your name.... JUST AN IDEA
