My 7 month old pup swallowed part of a toy a few days ago and yesterday started having black stools.
I phoned vet he said dont worry it should pass.
This morning he has a normal stool and then all the rest are black.
He is acting normal.
I have examined the stools but nothing has passed .
What do i do now i am very worried?

Call that vet back or get another. ASAP. A toy may pass..but it can also cause a blockage that can be fatal. Black stools, may possibly be from internal bleeding *note this is not always the case and I am NOT a vet*. How many days is a few? Usually a vet will watch or have you closely monitor a dog in such a situation..but if it isn't passed something must be done or the dog may die. Good luck.

Just what the vet said. Unless the pup starts vomitting or something else. But if the pup is acting fine, most likely he is. It sometimes takes a little time for it to pass. Could the black stool be related to something in his diet?

The vet is most likely right. Keep checking the stools to see if the swallowed part comes out

If that thing didn't pass it is causing an obstruction in the puppy's gastro-intestinal system. The black stools are worrisome as that may indicate bleeding. He could have a perforation which is not good. Best thing is to take him to a vet for an xray to put your mind at ease and for the puppy's benefit.

How big is the dog and how big a piece did he swallow? Call the vet back (or get another opinion). Black stool usually means blood and should be monitored very carefully.

I'm worried too--but black stools usually mean old blood. So, if he did traumatize his tummy or colon, then maybe the worst has passed.
It wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion--maybe you could get an abdominal scan just to make sure there is no obstruction.

That generally means that there is blood/internal bleeding somewhere. Take him to the emergency vet ASAP.
