If you want an answer from a vet, go to the vet and pay for it. Do not expect vets to give you information for free here.

Any information given here has as much chance of being a complete fabrication as real information.

In a human, depending on whether the urine retention was related to an infection or not, lasix might be given.

If you have a paraplegic dog, do it a favor and euthanise it.

A vet cannot and will not answear questions without doing a exam on your pet. it would be the same as calling up your doctor and having him diagnosis something over the phone. Huge lawsuit could occur. It is not that they are being rude, but without looking at animal they cannot know for sure.
