TSA may want to inspect them. These two sites will keep you updated on airport security issues: http://wehow.ehow.com/how_2003583_pack-holiday-travel.html

I have flow from 3 destinations in the last 10 days.
Chicago
Denver
Indianapolis

In all three situations, I saw unopened video games being cut out of their plastic blister packaging. Inspected, and "sorry" from the TSA agent. I know they hate to do it, so they will ask if you would like to go back out in the terminal and mail it to your desination instead.
Your best bet is putting it in checked baggage, or shipping it. If you put it in checked baggage, don't put wrapping paper on it. They can take it off even with checked bags.

Carry On? Hmmm.. Well, they MIGHT want to, but it's not a definite thing. They do put it through the machine though, for sure.
