So I became really close friend's with my Cousin's girldfriend. His Mother hates her. These past Holidays have been very uncomfortable and they never were in the past. It's obvious that my cousin's side of the fmily does not like the fact that she and I became friend's. What should I do?

continue being friends with her....

you have all the right to be with and mingle with anyone you like...

Them, (your relatives) disliking her, should not be a reason or a hindrance to your friendship..

You know her more than they do... and it would be nicer if you'd try to convince your relatives why it's wrong to dislike her..

First question to ask is, "Am I willing to spend the rest of my life with my cousin hating me?" - - if the answer is "no" - then explain to his girl friend that, in the interest of the three way relationship, that you are going to back away from her - that you still like her, but you don't want anybody to get hurt because of misunderstandings or false appearances.

Next question - did your cousin's mom hate his girl friend BEFORE you became friends with the girl? If so, TRUST THE MOTHER'S FEELINGS - Mothers have a special kind of gift that way - they may not be able to put their feelings into words, or even explain it to themselves, but some how, they "just know" - In which case, talk to your cousin, explain the situation and pull back - the girl is probably not good for EITHER of you - it can take YEARS and a LOT of heartache to learn what "mom" knows by instinct.

If the dislike came up AFTER you became friends with the girl, it may be an indication that 'mom" considers the girl unfaithful, because of her relationship with YOU! In that case, you STILL need to back off! Only THIS time, you need to make the GIRL see why, and make it appear to your cousin's family that SHE pushed YOU away. Be sure you have a heart-to-heart with your cousin AND the girl FIRST - don't let EITHER of them think you were trying to steal his girl!

Finally, you might want to consider a heart to heart with your cousin's mom! Keep in mind that very often it is very true that "moma knows best" - try to find her in a calm and relaxed frame of mind though - women can be VERY emotional - especially if defending their children from a perceived threat.

Enjoy the holidays and try your best to stay out of their business......
sounds like they have enough to work out between themselves without others talking about it too.
