Allah(God) says in quran "When My servants ask thee concerning Me, I am indeed close (to them): I listen to the prayer of every suppliant when he calleth on Me: Let them also, with a will, Listen to My call, and believe in Me: That they may walk in the right way. " v 2:186

At a very young age we are taught that God does listen... that's why we pray fervently before bedtime but as we grow older we learn that not all prayers are answered. It also depends on what your outlook in life is... if you're a believer and an optimist, you would say.. just be patient and that maybe its not meant to be.. and then again if you're not that religous... maybe you dont call on God that often... it depends...

Yes He does. It is important to pray in a way that is acceptable to Him though. In Matthew the 6th chapter, Jesus gave us a model prayer to use as a guide. In it he prayed to his father Jehovah God and asked for things that were in harmony with God's will. Also you should approach God through His son Jesus because it is only by means of his sacrifice that we have such a wonderful privilege.
