i would build the fence, place military guards people at the fence, and start rounding up the illegals here in the states. and deport them back to where they are from. if they are busted while illegal. they will never have a chance to come here legally.

Step 1) Borders: Close them, fence them, defend them.

Federally declare a state of emergency and temporarily close the borders to all immigrant traffic.

Next, fence the borders like they are a maximum security prison. Razor wire, guard stands, double fences with dogs in between. Real national borders need real physical definition. That side is your side. This side is our side. If you want in fill out the paperwork and wait your turn.

Then defend the borders. Use the national guard and give them law enforcement powers. Allow local sheriffs offices along the border to have immigration enforcement powers.

I guarantee the fences would be up in a matter of weeks if the government would allow it to be accomplished by the private sector.

Step 2) Deportation: Find them and deport them.

There are four places to find illiegals: hospitals, government subsidies, the criminal justice system, and through employer investigations. I could go longer here but won't. The bottom line is that we can find them, and relatively easily.

And there are not so many here that it would be impossible to return them. Here's a little math.

If there are twelve million illegals in the United States, and a school bus can hold sixty people, it would take 200,000 school bus trips to send them all to Mexico. Over twelve weeks of summer vacation where school buses sit dormant, that would be 16,700 trips per week, or 2380 trips per day. If the four county area around Los Angeles operates 4300 buses daily, there's no reason the federal government can't operate less than 2400 daily.

If the powers at be actually made our security a priority it could be more than 80% accomplished in a year. As soon as citizens and law enforcement agencies have the green light to be vigilant in our national security then we will be. Right now we just don't know if the government will stand behind us, and thus, for now, we are stuck writing blogs and exchanging dialog.

If I were given the authority to affect a change. I would first issue an all media announcement giving any and all illegals 14 days to get out of the country. Next I would choose an urban center and do a roundup. If they ran they would be shot as fleeing felons would. I would also televise this event so that any others would know that I mean business. I'd issue another all-media warning that I'm coming to your town soon if not next and follow through on it. I would also construct a no man's land at the border and man it with snipers. Bodies would be left to rot as an example to those who may be thinking about crossing illegally.

Enforce existing laws. Increase man-power. Treat criminal immigrants like any other criminal. Give them basic human rights, but none other. Make them serve time in jail. This would include children. They would have to serve time in the appropriate facility. As criminals, it should be more difficult for them to ever get citizenship though not impossible. The penalty for a second offense, barring some paperwork error, would be no citizenship in the U. S. and no future chance offered. If they no that citizenship will be completely taken away, then they might think twice about a second attempt. They still get jail time, hard labor. The labor has to pay for their confinement and food. They work or else they die.

I will say that I have solutions to this issue but I am open to hearing ideas from other people about what they think would best serve the american people. One important point I would like to make, however, is in light of our more recent economic competition with China (percieved or otherwise), A growing economy must have a steadily growing workforce.

Compromise is always the best solution. I think that we should make a profit off of illegal immigration:

Let’s say we have 12,000,000 Illegal Aliens

Let’s charge each of them $100 for a 3 year work permit $1,200,000,000

The average person
Pays 4-5,000 dollarsIn taxes a year (not allowing any deductions,
criminal activity, free hospitalization, and no chance at disability,
social security, or medicaid)
$48,000,000,000 Per year

At the end of 3 years, they can buy a green card for $500 IF they stay out of trouble AND debt
$6,000,000,000

Total Profit $583,200,000,000

Think of it this way...they couldn't abuse the hospital or welfare system like they do now. And they would have to keep their noses clean.

Simply fine the employers who illegally hire illegals. Big fines, and there will be no more work for illegals. No work, no jobs, no illegals. But, unbelievably Republicans do not want this as there is too much money to be made from illegals. Employers do not have to pay them nearly as much as Americans, they don't have to provide any benefits, and they can pocket the taxes for themselves. Bush wants this to go all the way with an open border with Mexico - look out American jobs - and he has signed the treaty already with Mexico and Canada. http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=14965 It is hard to believe he would sell us out this way.

seal the border with watever it takes but simply to keep more from coming ... other than that we needto relax on the hate and realize the ones that are already here are helping , not hurting our economy and keeping our prices lower on many htings ... one thing we absolutely dont need is nazi-style SS police round ups in this country, or a belief that scapegoating all our problems onto immigrants is going to help us or solve anything ... no, our problems would still be there and compounded if they were all deported ...

Report ALL employers that hire illegals, everyday, as many times a day as your time permits, continuously until something happens....insist to your Representatives that action be taken, in each case, fines levied, and public records be made available...make it clear that if they like their job, they had better react to the situation, or be voted out, no if ,ands, or buts.....There is amazing strength in numbers, that is all it would take....
