There is a lot more to this incident than any of you who have posted so far even can begin to know about. I live where this has taken place. first of all the smuggler had a van full of more than 700 pounds of dope. Between the time of the agents indictment and their trial the smuggler was caught again, this time with more than 1,000 pounds. He was given immunity from prosecution to testify. The smuggler is the one who could not keep his story straight. He was also given free medical care and is suing the government for more than $5 million dollars. No one and I repeat NO ONE knows for sure if he was armed or not. Unless you were there you can not say what happened. I do know one of these agents and his family. I do not know a more honest or a more by the book agent out there. Lets not forget that the supervisor out there failed to file a mandatory report with the FBI that a Federal Agent was injured. The supervisor claims that he did not know that the agent was injured. Yet photos from the scene show blood running from the agents face. Not to mention that in the supervisor's testimony he states that he asked the agent if he needed medical attention. Now who is lying I ask you?

Yes, I did hear about it. It is against NAFTA, Laws in the US, UN Resolutions, to fire upon a person who is crossing a border illegally.
I sincerely DO oppose illegal immigration, but the actions of these two border patrol guards was ILLEGAL as well. The operational word is illegal, and I have to lean toward the side of the law.
I do disapprove of the drug smuggler getting pardoned.

Yes we all watch the news and read the newspapers, they shot at the backs of fleeing criminals and then lied about it. If they felt they were justified why not tell the truth. It is illegal in this Country to shoot at anybodies back, but a lot of people defend their actions, that is hypocrisy.
The person below glosses over why the ones who did the shooting lied about it. Give us all the details not just the ones you use to justify with. There had to be a reason they were convicted.

Migra, can you tell us anything about the morale of the Border agents in general. I would have started looking for another job, the day I found out they were going to trial.
