It seems that ppl tend to use yahoo answers to ditch each other off, like those in religious threads...what do you think?

No yahoo hasn't failed, because he offers us a golden opportunity to know more about ourselves and our fellow human beings, it's highly interesting to touch this sense of individuality within everyone, let alone improving ur argumentative skills. don't bother urself with those who misuse this wonderful means. take what is useful and leave what is harmful

Not failed but there are a few trolls abusing the system and people should be reporting them instead of encouraging them. This site was not set up to be a forum or a blog. It was meant as a question and answer site. It is rapidly morphing into something else. That might be good or bad. I don't know. But the ones who are just trolling and promoting hate need to be eliminated. Another section rife with hate mongers is politics>immigration, it has got to the point in that section where serious questions about immigration can't be asked because all they get are racist hate rants.

This is no different from other types of threads and forums.
My thoughts:
Any communication is better than NO communication.
We all have the ability and right to choose what communication we wish to give or receive.
You don't have to play the "ditching" game. It's a choice.
I avoid it most of the time. I am interested in sharing knowledge. I think Y Ans is successful in that.
But I also enjoy the variety of viewpoints. This is the reason for communication of any kind. To discover that there's someone
else with a viewpoint!!
You don't have to agree with them all.

there are bad people everywhere that will spout garbage but don't "shoot the messenger" and blame yahoo answers. they spout garbage on im, websites, blogs, gamerooms, etc. the only way to take away their power is to hit "report abuse" and then forget these people and the things they say

failed at what? all they were trying to do was offer a forum for interaction--they have successfully done so
