Both cars are excellant condition and about the same price. The Corvette belongs to a good friend and I know its history. The Mustang is owned by an unknown seller. I prefer the Corvette but am concerned about its age (8 yrs). Should this be a concern?

corvette is a high maintaince vehicle, if something goes wrong you will pay twice as much as you would on the stang. but if price isnt an issue get the vette. stangs are generic and everyone has them but the vette is in a league of its own

A 2000 Corvette of 8 years??
Did you timetravel to 2008? :)

If you buy from a friend, and something with the car seems to be an expensive problem not much later on, the friendship could cool down or even break up. So, even if it's your friend, you need all conditions on paper.
In itself, age shouldn't have to be a problem, if the car always has had it's services. Did your friend used warming up periods before putting the pedal to the metal? If not, the engine could have more wear then needed.

If you need a date, i'd say go for the Corvette.

I have a 99 Chevy Tahoe which has a similar powerplant as the Vette. Both are 350's the Vette just has some better performance parts. The reliability is the same. I am going on 100,000 hard miles on my 350 with minor problems. I have had a alternator go out...Thats it! I'm a chevy guy and my vote is for the Vette, plus you know the service history and trust your friend over some joe off the street.

Also the Vette smokes any factory pony!

I wouldn't buy either. Corvettes are produced from fiberglass and would shatter instantly via impact. I would never buy a Ford - the craftsmanship on the engines is weak. You'd be taking your Mustang to the mechanic every month.

MUSTANG! We see what gained right here. I purely busted 2 'vettes the day gone by in my mustang. i could be lady yet i be attentive to better than those men around right here. those different women want the appearance of the fords yet look under the hood little sissies. The mustang is far greater advantageous.
