Used= cheaper but perhaps junkier.. most lemons find themselves on used lots for sale.

Used -- always a better deal. Face it, a well maintained four year old Honda will take you anywhere you need to go with minimal problems for years and hundreds of thousands of miles. A new car warranty is a complete myth. Today's modern car tech has all but eleminated the days of blown engines, slipping transmissions and self-destructing rear axle assys. In a free market system these problems simply will not be tolerated (remember Peugeots? They had a brief life here in the U.S. but due to their obscene cost, miserable build quality and non-existent reliablity they were completely ignored by the buying public). With two thousand dollars stuffed into a savings account you have just purchased yourself an instant warranty that should cover any breakdown (all but a few problems will ever cost more than this to correct). Last, but not least, by purchasing a used vehicle you avoid the tremendous loss in value vs buying new. The second you sign the dotted line on a new car you LOSE 20% of it's value. The next year you lose another 15 to 20% and the same the year after that. It's always a roll of the dice when you buy used but if you find a car that has been well maintained and keep it that way there is no reason it should not perform well for years.

I have always so far owned a new car. Its my belief that with a new car you are able to hear certain things that only you would be able to note as a problem, you will also be able to tell when its not performing right when driving it.
On a used car, this is not so. sounds that are already there, and the way it drives at first, for you it may be normal, but for the previous owner, he or she could tell you that that may or may not have been there when they were driving it. Usually there is some repair issues that will be needed on a used car more so then a new one. Customized cars are some of the worst. these vehicles have been molded to own personnel tastes, and you may find some with very uncomfortable noises and gadgets.
Go with a new car, so you can grow with it, and mold it into your own style of life.

with a used car you are getting a car that may have some hidden problems.. also you do not know how the previous owner treated the car.. and you can usually get used cars at a greater discount than a new car...... with a new car at least you have the option of driving the car how you want for a couple of years and the security that no one has been in an cross country race with your used car.... but remember you always get what you pay for,, if you buy a used car you get a used car,, but when you buy a new car you get a new drive train and a nice great smelling car.......

its always nice to say you have a new car!! but in my opinion, id rather get a good used one, reason, the minute you drive that new car off the car lot, it depreciates!! if you pay 25,000 for a new car, you wont ever be able to get that for it, if you had to sell it, id rather get a mechanic to go over a nice used car, you can still get a warranty with a used car, plus if your lucky, you might can pick one up so you wont have any car payments, & if you have car payments it wont be as long, as with a new car.

Used, you buy someone elses problems (likely!).
New, you better buy one everyone likes to keep the resale value up. Used, you are better off buying one that is not liked well, as it lost more in value.
