They can only be a virgin once.
I think it is because the first time for a virgin, she puts all she has into it. She is giving herself away. But that fades, expecially if you have twenty more virgins than weeks of the year.
But the wise man knows that women over 40 are more passionate than 18 year old virgins.
Besides, I find God giving people virgins for killing as many innocents as possible as you go to meet your maker as repuslive.
The God I worship would not be so generous to those who kill innocents.
IMHO, those who have no hesitation in killing innocents have a very dark soul. I cannot see how they could be accepted in a heaven where God says that he cannot stand the sight of sin.

Muhammad had to find a way to entice the men to fight and die for the cause of Islam, and every Muslim, knowing that when he dies as a martyr or otherwise will be given 72 virgins to fondle, Muslims do what we all see them do around us.
