I thought they were righteous people. I havent even mentioned lot and his daughters. Have you seen all the lewd language in the bible? Do you teach this to your children? How about the woman, menses, original sin, childbearing etc. The head covering too, why dont some christian women cover their head? dont say the hair is a covering because it says that a man shall not cover his hair because it is a shame for him to do that. Does that mean that he has to shave his hair and cant keep his hair? Women are not allowed to speak in church either, they have to stay silent. Oh yes, it was good for them back then but this is NOW. You are modern. I love the way you people twist and turn so it is upto your standards.

The guy with his version, any proof to back that up?
Ezek. 9:5]
And the Lord said, "Go through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare,
neither have you pity. SLAY UTTERLY OLD AND YOUNG, BOTH MAIDS AND LITTLE
CHILDREN, AND WOMEN.
[Num. 31:1]
And the Lord said unto Moses, "Avenge the children of the Mid'-an'ites.. They
warred against the Mid'-i-an'ites, as the Lord commanded Moses, and they slay
all the males.
And they took all women as captives, and their little ones, and took the spoil
of all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods. And they burnt
all their cities wherein they dwelt, and all their goodly castles, with fire.
Moses said, "HAVE YOU SAVED ALL THE WOMEN ALIVE?
NOW KILL EVERY MALE AMONG THE LITTLE ONES, AND KILL EVERY WOMAN
that has known a man by lying with him, but all the young girls who have not
known a man by lying with him keep alive for yourselves.

Wow! That's a lot. But here it goes:

Noah made the juice from the grape. Otherwise called 'grape juice.' Apparently the 'grape juice had time to sit around, and it fermented. I think that Noah wasn't used to the fermentation processes so he got drunk. (He basicially hadn't experienced the fermentation process because after the flood, things behaved differently, including people not living as long. Some say that it's the way the atmosphere changed, allowing more UV raditaion through the atmosphere. ) Noah not only saw the nakedness of his father, but gossiped it to his brothers.
Noah was embarrassed. Noah's reaction was out of embarrassment and anger.

David. David did not care about what other people thought. He cared about what God thought. Will God be impressed if I dance through the city naked? Maybe. But I bet you I wouldn't get too far without being arrested! lol

Aaron helped the Hebrews practice idolatry. It wasn't a good thing to do. Aaron experienced mercy, though many that partook in the 'ceremony' did not fare so well!

I really don't like the Song of Solomon. It's very poetic, yes. Let's just say that it's not my favorite. Looking it up, I see that it says:
Apparently the verse has to do with a 'flashback'. the 'beloved' was a wall, that is; if she resisted temptation and used good judgement, she would be rewarded with certain freedoms and trust.

Apparently childbirth was to be painless before, but after the 'fall' there would be pain involved in childbirth. These were curses from God for parting from His word. You see, God is the boss. And they disobeyed. God cursed Adam and Eve and they also were not to die before the fall, and people have been dying ever since. Jesus brings us back to life.

Look at it this way.
The bible is a GUIDEBOOK, not a road map.
It was written a LONG time ago by men who, in those days, went by the laws and rules of BACK THEN.
Times change, but no more NEWER chapters have been written for the bible. So a LOT in the Bible is outdated.
Unfortunately, most people in religion are scared of everything. So they follow the Bible, to the letter.
The Bible is not a daily rule book of our lives. It gives advice on how we should live, to live better.
NOT as churches teach; everything is a sin and everytime we do any thing, we will be punished. Fear is churches control over people, and MONEY is the cure.

Women are second class citizens according to most of the Old Testiment and part of the New Testiment.

Jesus' treament of women, however, shows he was trying to get us away from that concept too.

We can see, however, the recent Episocpalian efforts of making a Woman head of the Church has caused a major rift. One minister I talked with left that church ages ago because they were ordaining women. So a lot of men want to keep the status quo.

The changing views on Women and Homosexuals is causing a lot of friction within the community. The orthodox think it's a bad thing, the progressives think it's a good thing.

Battle lines are being drawn and judgements are being made, especially by some church leaders.

Maybe this was God's plan!

Maybe God wants to see what we'll do and how we'll act.

Hi, I can't answer all of your questions about the bible, but you have to realize that the bible uses many metaphors. To understand it, you have to learn the customs and how people lived back when it was written. The Old Testament contains the laws and prophecies including the prophecy of Jesus. God knew we couldn't live by the law, so He gave us Jesus as our Saviour. The New Testament teaches us about Jesus and his saving grace.

John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, [but] grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

Matt 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

To me the bible is a book of claims and the Christians have blessed it, meaning they accept it all as truth and have the convince to explain it as only history, but maybe the Jewish could explain it, but I think Noah was a genital, Let me ask you a question, God gave the Israelites Israel, that is a claim and the Christians accept it as truth, and what is described above is sin and they accept that also, another claim.

Hey, those are kind of funny. I think the whole "sin" of nakedness is overrated. Not that I'm a nudist or anything but geez, Noah gets drunk and passes out naked in his tent? that's not even shameful - no, what's shameful is that anybody thinks it's important. David dancing naked? Must have been some good party, eh? Seriously, you could pretty much picture "churchladies" of today pointing out these problems in their own community, couldn't you? I think it just shows that people *have been* judging others on the thinnest of evidence since the dawn of time.

Oh, haha, the one about the sister with no breasts...now that IS funny. Can't get much for her!

Ok! So you looked to the past and have seen nothing but violence from the Old Testament / Contract. Have you noticed the Laws? Have you noticed that this world is based around Laws? You cannot escape them.

Now take that Excellent Perception of yours and apply it to the New Testament. Lets see if you can recognize who fulfilled the Law of the Old Testament / Contract. Lets see if you can recognize who paid the debt of sin = disobedience. Then lets see if you will choose the New Testament / Contract over the Old Testament / Contract?

Or will you be like the rest and try to "incorporate the Old Testament / Contract into the New Testament / Contract?"

Ultimately the "CHOICE" is yours.

What is the point you are trying to make?It is like going to the kitchen of the Blessed Virgin Mary and saying "why do you carry these knives in your kitchen?"Ask us Christians about the Gospel. And for your information the Old testament is common to all Abrahamic faiths.
