Sparkling Cranberry Juice from Whole Foods.
Deluxe Sugar Cookies
2 sticks butter or margarine, softened
1 ½ cups powdered sugar
2 ½ cups plain flour
1 teaspoon almond flavoring
1 teaspoon Southern Comfort
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 egg
In a large mixing bowl (I use an electric mixer) cream butter and sugar together, add flavorings, soda, and cream of tartar. Add the egg and slowly begin adding the flour. Mix well after each addition of flour. When well mixed, form dough into a ball and wrap well with plastic wrap. Refrigerate several hours until well chilled. Overnight is even better.
Dough will keep several days, so make the dough one night in the middle of the week and have it well chilled for a weekend of baking. I always double the recipe so we have plenty of cookies to share with friends and neighbors.
After dough has chilled, divide into two or more batches and roll out with a rolling pin on a well floured sheet of waxed paper until about ¼ in thickness.
Cut into various shapes for any occasion; place cookies on a non-greased cookie sheet. It is ok to lightly spray cookie sheet with PAM or use sheets of parchment to line cookie sheet. Decorate with sprinkles, colored sugar, etc. Bake in a 350 degree oven for about ten minutes or until lightly brown.
Watch carefully to prevent burning. If one wishes, do not decorate cookies; wait until they cool and decorate with your favorite butter icing. Any way you do them, they are GOOD. Happy cookie making.

Christmas: Hot crab dip, turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, glazed carrots, corn, bread and sausage stuffing/dressing, pumpkin pie and cookies!
New Years Day: Pime rib, grilled shrimp scampi, sauted green beans, etc.
The absolute best recipe site I have found is allrecipes.com. It is awesome!
Here are a few recipes:
Hot Crab Dip
This delicious, addictive crab dip will have your family begging for more. Serve as an appetizer with onion or garlic crackers
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
4 Tbs mayonnaise
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
2 (6 ounce) cans crabmeat
1 1/2 Tbs fresh lemon juice
2 tsp hot sauce
2 Tbs Worcestershire sauce
paprika, for garnish
1 Preheat oven to 350°F.
2 In a medium bowl, mix the cream cheese, mayonnaise, Cheddar cheese, crabmeat, lemon juice, hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Transfer to a shallow 9x13 inch baking dish. Garnish with paprika.
3 Bake in the preheated oven 30 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
Yield: 5 cup
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 30 minutes
Ready in: 40 minutes
Easy Sausage Stuffing
This is a great recipe for stuffing. Delicious enough for Thanksgiving, but easy enough for any day of the week.
1 lb Bob Evans Savory Sage Sausages
1 medium onion, diced
3 stalks celery, diced
1 (14 ounce) package stuffing
1 tsp poultry seasoning
2 1/2 cups chicken broth
1/2 cup melted butter
1 egg
1 In a saucepan heat broth and melt butter. Add poultry seasonings
2 In a large skillet over medium heat, crumble sausage. Add onion and celery and cook, stirring occasionally until sausage is brown.
3 In a large bowl, place stuffing. Add sausage mixture.
4 Temper the egg in the broth mixture. Pour broth mixture over the top and toss to combine.
5 Stuff turkey and roast immediately or place in a buttered casserole dish. Cover. Bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes. (Uncover for the last 15 minutes)
Grilled Shrimp Scampi
Shrimp marinated in lemon, garlic, and parsley for 30 minutes, then grilled. Can be used as an appetizer or main dish.
This recipe also works well with scallops.
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup lemon juice
3 Tbs chopped fresh parsley
1 Tbs minced garlic
ground black pepper to taste
crushed red pepper flakes to taste (optional)
1 1/2 lbs medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 In a large, non-reactive bowl, stir together the olive oil, lemon juice, parsley, garlic, and black pepper. Season with crushed red pepper, if desired. Add shrimp, and toss to coat. Marinate in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
2 Preheat grill for high heat. Thread shrimp onto skewers, piercing once near the tail and once near the head. any remaining marinade.
3 Lightly oil grill grate. Grill for 2 to 3 minutes per side, or until opaque.

On New Year's Day here in Tennessee we all eat blackeyed peas with hog jowl and cabbage or other dish of greens. I eat blackeyed peas ONLY on this one day each year. They are not on my list of favorites.

Absolutely nothing... I cook / bake the same things throughout the year. Nothing is left for only one meal a year. If we enjoy somerthing we have it often.
