All I can tell you is maybe the timing is not right. The female is in her prime on the 12th day. If the male is not experience then you may need to help him. Have someone hold the female and help the male mount her. My one female Shih Tzu doesn't want anyone around while she matting. So I have to watch from the house to make sure she does. My other female I have to hold her or she will kill the male. I should have name her the black widow. You need to take your male to the vet to make sure everything is alright with him. Nature does take it course, timing is the worse problem. Good luck to you.

You answered your own question.
1. He's not interested in mating.
2. He's never shown much interest in mating.
3. He doesn't like other dogs to be in the house.
Besides the very obvious reasons, here's a really big reason why you're making a big mistake:

You obviously do not understand the science of genetics and the art of breeding. You have no business adding to the misery of voiceless animals. For shame!

I have to agree with the others...& add a bit more: the toy breeds are notoriously difficult & generally unhealthy as well. This is why they are hard to breed, & even hobby breeders with excellent stock will tell you they haven't weeded out juvenile cataracts, missing teeth, luxated patellas....& it is believed that many dogs that don't want to breed may 'know' 'something's not right'.
Obviously, you're breding for $$$ only, as you don't know how many Shih Tzus are in rescue---all originally paid for by people who got bored with them. You want to turn this dog into a stud so you don't have to pay a stud fee (or an ethical breeder turned down your *****). Learn about the breed by contacting the American Shih Tzu Club.

well she may not fit his fancy......animals have preferences too :) maybe if you lock em up alone together for a few days he will get bored enough to do the dead with her, or maybe he just doesn't like an audience, ya know what I mean? you cant really force a thing like this....

if hes never liked it, don't forse him. it doesn't help if he doesn't even like to have other dogs in the house ... also, its not good to mate them too much anyway, it can give them cancer. think about getting him nudered ...

I believe there are homosexuals in the animal world, too. Perhaps he tried it once with a female, and figured out that is not who he is.

maybe it's time to have him neutered and try and lower his chances of testicular cancer. sounds like he's done his duty for you, now it's time for you to take care of him.
