if a stranger walked up to me out of the blue and asked for a hug, i'd probably get all defensive and be very surprised.
why don't you give your boyfriend a hug instead? i'm sure he'd love it!

Of course I would... depending on the context. If it was 12 at night in a dark alley in an abandoned neighborhood, I might think twice. But under normal every day circumstances, I definitely would!
