You own a high energy, sporting breed. They need a diet that will give them energy and help build strong bones and muscle. Your pup is NOT getting a good nutritious diet!. Buy a premium puppy food from one of the big stores like Petco or Petsmart. Read the label and avoid any food that has "whey" listed as a main ingrediet (its an inferior grain product). Some of the good foods are Premium Edge, Science Diet, Iams. Do NOT use a "store brand" like Walmar'ts Old Roy or Pedigree or Alpo; they are inferior foods. You can mix in a little bit of canned dog food if you like, but that isn't necessary. Check with your veterinarian and see if any supplements are recommended. You've got a great breed but remember this breed needs LOTS of exercise and play time. Good luck and enjoy.

I have a 3 month old choc. lab and we feed her Nutro Large breed puppy food, 1 cup 3 times a day mixed with warm water to moisten the food. you will want to feed your pup a large breed puppy food because it contains less protein than conventional puppy food and will help control his growth rate. if he grows too fast he could end up with pano (growing pains) and that isn't pleasant. there are many high quality foods on the market. look at the back of the bag for the ingredient list...the first ingredient should be meat such as lamb, chicken, or beef. if it is a "meal" than it usually has a lot of fillers and isn't so good for your pup. enjoy your labradork...lol they are great dogs.

At his age, a 50/50 mix of canned dog food and dry puppy kibbles. Here's a list of the best brands:
Artemis, Avoderm, Blue Buffalo, Canine Caviar, California Natural, Timberwolf Organics, Wellness, Chicken Soup, Nutro Ultra, Solid Gold, Verus, Merrick.

By 4-6 months you can put him on solid dry food if you prefer.

One possible answer is the diet is simply bad but I don't think this is the case. What this honestly sounds like is a case of lympho cimadicidus, a condition where the dogs digestive track works both ways. You need to be on the lookout for the dog vomiting up its own waste or inserting food into its anal region as this is a sure sign that the digestive track is working in the opposite direction. If this is the case the dog would be perfectly fine the coat would never be shiny though.

Natural Balance, Canidae, Wellness, Innova.

You want a food that does NOT contain corn as the first ingredient. Avoid foods with a lot of wheat (common allergen), soy and by-products.

Please don't feed your dog Iams, Dog Chow, Science Diet or any of the others you see advertised all over the place. The reason those companies can afford to advertise so much is because they don't spend much money on quality ingredients.

Merry Christmas.

any good brand of puppy food, usully biscuits as well as canned meat. morning and night you should put boiling water on the biscuits to soften them and mix them with meat. There should be enough food for the puppy to clean up in 10 mins if theres any left then you're giving them too much. Throughout the day there should always be a few dry biscuits left in his bowl incase he gets hungry throughout the day.

YOU SHOULD NEVER GIVE YOUR PUPPY COWS MILK, because they are not able to digest it, but if you feed him as I say then you could give your pup half a cup of warmed GOATS milk before bedtime, you can also mix in a teaspoon of honey and it helps them settle at night

That pup needs a high quality puppy food. At 8 weeks its nearly impossible to keep up with just a gruel. Nutro is a favorite premium food, available in crunchy and canned. Ideally he should be on just crunchies, but you will have to wean him off of the mixture hes been getting, mix it into the crunchy food gradually using less and less until it is all crunchy. Please do your new pet a favor and stay away from grocery store brands of food (Pedegree, Iams, Kibbles and Bits, etc). See a Petco or Petsmart employee tomorrow about the benefits of premium foods. Merry Christmas!! Have fun with your new pup!

Switch to a puppy food he needs the meat protein to develop properly. I like Royal Canin they have a two stage puppy food to address the needs in that particular growth period. Royal Canin also makes a food especially designed for the Labrador as an adult.

You can start him on a dog kibble diet today. 8 weeks old is beyond the age of weaning. Start him on a premium dog kibble such as Merrick Puppy Plate, and ask your veterinarian what is the correct amount to feed for his weight and age. It is a good idea to keep the kibble moist for the first few weeks since puppy teeth are generally sensitive and still growing.

if ur labrador doesnt have any particular problem, provide him normal pup diet. Like
*IN THE MORNING provide him cerealac (for babies) with good biscuits.

*AT LUNCH TIME provide him rice with lots of vegitables (as much possible like --dal, beans, carrot, pappia etc.) boil the vegitables well but without salt.
u can also add some full boiled chiken.

*AT THE EVENING give him 'pedigree puppy' the dog food or milk and biscuit.

*IN THE NIGHT give him rice with milk.
