I can only answer for Catholicism and Orthodox Christianity....both have their foundation in Jerusalem and can trace their heritage back to one of the apostles.

Protestantism was invented in the 1500's in Europe with most -- if not all -- of the fundamentalist sects being invented here in the U.S. of A. beginning in the mid-1800's. The Assembly of God, for example, was invented in LA in 1914.

As far as Judaism goes, the Orthodox branch is all that existed until the 1800's. The Reform, Conservative and Reconstructionist groups were founded in the 1800's and later as a means of adapting Judaism to the times -- but only adapting the expression of those truths....not the truths themselves.

In Islam, since there was wide-spread disagreement about Muhammad's (pbuh) successor after his death, this is when the groups of Shii'a and Sunni came into being. One group insisted that a direct descendant of Muhammad (pbuh) beome leader whereas the other group insisted that it only had to be a very holy man.

The rain falls on the just and the unjust.

This tiny snippet of scripture tells us what God himself thinks about the idea that there is only one religion that is pleasing to him.

In other words he never judges, he only loves.

This is also explained in the parable of the prodigal son perhaps better than anywhere else.

Religion has tried to spin this parable as a story of forgiveness but if you actually read it with an open mind it is beyond obvious that the father in the story never judged the son in any way, so there was never anything to forgive. He was just overjoyed at his return.

Don't take my word for it. Read it your self and take Jesus' word.

love and blessings Don

Jehovah's Witnesses have the true religion. They are Christian (of course), but they are unique for their rejection of paganisms, use of God's personal name, and global preaching by every active adherent. No other religious organization can claim such purity of worship.

These facts about Jehovah's Witnesses are perhaps relevant to this question. The more one compares this Christian religion with others, the more remarkable it is shown to be.

1. Jehovah's Witnesses have no paid clergy. Yet they remain tightly organized with more than 6.5 million active Jehovah's Witness preachers (about 16 million associate themselves with the religion). Even fulltime preachers and workers at their branch offices are unpaid volunteers.

2. There is no elite class among Jehovah's Witnesses. Even the few 'anointed' among them enjoy no special privileges in their congregations on earth. An anointed person (one of those relative few with a heavenly hope) is not elevated above his fellow congregants in any way, and he may not even qualify for appointment as a simple 'deacon' or elder. There are no titles; EVERYONE is addressed as 'brother' or 'sister'.

3. No person benefits economically from the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Even the 8 to 20 men who serve on their Governing Body receive simply room, board, medical care, and reimbursement for certain personal expenses according to the exact same provision as every other branch volunteer.

4. About a hundred men have served on Jehovah's Witnesses' Governing Body committee during the past 125 years or so. The vast majority of them have spent the vast majority of their adult lives volunteering for their organization's purposes, and the vast majority have died faithfully and near-pennilessly while still under their legal 'vow of poverty'.

5. Amazingly, Jehovah's Witnesses did not splinter as a sect from some other religion. Instead, a truly tiny but sincere group of bible students studied only the Scriptures to determine the will of God. Thus their religion remains absolutely independent of and not carrying the sins of Christendom's history, yet carries the authority of Christ's teachings.

6. Despite the distortions of anti-Witnesses, throughout their modern history Jehovah's Witnesses have refused to claim divine inspiration or infallibility for their teachings. They have pointed to the bible (and not any particular translation) as the only inspired infallible means of knowing God's thoughts. For over 125 years, their teachings have been presented as merely the results of sincere bible research by imperfect but godly humans.

My dear Sarky, what true sects you are looking for. The word of the Lord is LOVE, love to all. If love prevails in all religions as it does in Christianity, then Paradise will be reestablished on earth.

I believe all christian sects go to hell because they fight over it, same with muslims, the Reformed Jews are the most laid back therefore less likely to squabble over the afterlife.

The Bible compared with The Koran

The Bible teaches that salvation is obtained only by faith in Jesus Christ

Jesus said, "I am the door; if any one enters by me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture."
John 10:9

And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
Acts 4:12

The jailor asked Paul and Silas, "Men, what must I do to be saved?" And they said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household."
Acts 16:30-31

If you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:9

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God - not because of works, lest any man should boast.
Ephesians 2:8,9

He saved us, not because of deeds done by us in righteousness, but in virtue of his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal in the Holy Spirit, which He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Saviour, so that we might be justified by his grace and become heirs in hope of eternal life.
Titus 3:5-7

The Koran teaches that salvation is obtained by faith in Allah and good works

As for those that have faith and do good works, We shall admit them to gardens watered by running streams, where, wedded to chaste virgins, they shall abide for ever. We shall admit them to a cool shade.
Sura 4:57

On that day no soul shall suffer the least injustice. You shall be rewarded according only to your deeds.
Sura 36:54

Proclaim good tidings to those who have faith and do good works. They shall dwell in gardens watered by 'This is what we used to eat before,' for they shall be given the like. Wedded to chaste virgins, they shall abide there for ever.
Sura 2:25

Believers, Allah has now sent down to you a warning; an apostle proclaiming to you the revelations of Allah in all plainness, so that he may lead the faithful who do good works from darkness to the light. He that believes in Allah and does good works shall be admitted to gardens watered by running streams where he shall dwell for ever. Allah has made for him a generous provision.
Sura 65:10
