Ther History of Christmas
For those who are interested in real facts, this is a good, tho rather long, summary.
I would copy this, but it is copyrighted, so you have to go to the site.

Here's another from a site less likely to raise the hairs of sensitive types.

As a Christian; I know for a fact that Jesus was not born not December 25th. An avid reader of the Bible; there's no indication to me that Jesus wanted us to celebrate his birth. The only celebration or memorial that was to be celebrated was his sacrificial death for mankind; the Lord's evening meal. This account can be found in the following Bible chapters: Matthew 26: 1-30; Mark 14: 17-26; Luke 22: 7-38.

I will be celebrating Jesus' birth when I go to Mass in about 90 minutes. I live alone and I have some time to spare before I join family and relatives a bit later.
On the other hand, I celebrate Jesus' birth everytime I receive the Eucharist. We pray frequently that He "be born in our hearts".....it does not have to be December 25th for this to happen....
I always try to take time to share my Catholic faith.

This particular Christian is here to wish the other christians a Merry Christmas and to spread the love of Jesus to all. I also am here to extend warm wishes to all who are not celebrating Christmas at all, simply because they are fellow human beings and I am hoping no one is feeling left out simply because they do not celebrate my holiday. So whatever your religion, whatever your belief, I bless that your day is filled with love and joy and family bonds if nothing else. Love to all pagans, wiccans, satanists, atheists, muslims, Jews, etc. You are all my family and I send you warm wishes for a wonderful season.

We do not know the date of Jesus' birthday. We imitate the example left by the first century Christians and we obey the command of Jesus himself - we celebrate his death. That's still a few months away.
P.S. Is that you, Gacy?

First of all, today is NOT Jesus birthday, Dec. 25th came in by the catholic church teachings, & also I am retired, I have all the time in the world to do anything, I don't have to punch in a timecard anymore.

What better way to celebrate the coming of light into the world than attempting to spread it.
