yes there are different ones . they are all very similar for sure.
there is a roman catholic one and a Protestant one. the two are different in that the catholic one is longer. the other shorter .
each country has one and its printed in every way braille included.
the bible was most likely written in Aramaic and then later
all most of the written versions were in Latin.
the time of the Protestant movement brought us the version in our own languages. each time it is translated for for the first time to a new language there is just a tiny bit that may be different not the meaning or the point but some words from one languages dont translate exactly of it is done that way it starts to make less sense or have a different meaning.
so right now in this time we have mostly two versions the roman catholic one and the protestant one along with one for each language. there remains some of the very very early bibles or at least parts of them a page here a page there but even when experts view them they see that the meaning has not changed
the slight differance in wording yes but the meaning no
which one is the most correct the answer to that i think is the one that you have read and you feel that you have recieved from god a special gift in being able to read and or hear the word of God . so long as the version you have tells you that Christ is the son of God and that his way is that of love and truth . his way is the only way to the father then i think chances are you are reading the right one. you see from the bible which is holy there are many messages for all of us together and there are some messages that are ment to apply more to some people at that time then others
this is called i think the holy part of the book not magic no but holy yes.

The Bible included most of the books from the Torah which we call the Old Testament and the New Testament with the gospels from Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, plus letters from Paul on his travels.
Some say there was only one original primitive version but the Bible was printed in Hebrew & then Greek so that is doubtful
Then in the fourth century St Jerome was asked to translate the Greek to Latin, that stayed standard for centuries.
Check www.newadvent.org under Bible,Versions of, its pretty interesting.

There are many versions/translations or interpretations that can still be found.
Remember all the bible is, is a collection of scripture put together in the 4th century by some people who wanted their version of Christianity to be the only one practiced.
They were basically a bunch of known it all's who wanted their version to be the only one available.
The one that they came up with is not the one that was the closest to the true teachings of Jesus. In many ways it is almost the exact opposite of the teachings Of Jesus.
If you truly want to follow the true teachings of Jesus there are much better places to find them.
Love and blessings Don

There are many versions of the Bible and the words still ring the same. Too many languages as it is the best seller in publishing of all time for centuries down to the first scrolls...
The word changes in the minds of the readers.
My Dad said You can take bits and pieces to mean whatever your heart is troubled about and it answers your problems.
It is frightening at times how it speaks to you and if you put it under your pillow it gives you a calm rest as it covers many subjects and problems. Psalms 139 is good to cover that God is with you always where every you make your life. Merry Christmas

Bart Ehrman says in his book that the oldest copy of the bible is the Codex Sinaticus, which is from the 4th century A.D. There are thousands of biblical manuscripts, which disagree with each other a lot. Prof. Ehrman says that there are more differences in the bible than there are words in the entire bible.
Besides all that, the 4 gospels don't agree with each other. Mark says that Jesus cried on the cross, saying: My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? On the other hand Luke says Jesus was perfectly calm and collected while on the cross, and knew exactly what was happening.

Well, all descend from the King James- so, the different versions are modernized. The Catholics have their own Bible- with the Gnostic added in. The Mormons have the Book of Joseph (?)

You may want to look up a book by Bart Ehrman, an expert on this subject.
There are almost as many versions of the bible as there are bibles!

Just one. They all are translated from a large number of ancient manuscripts. There are two methods of translating:
Literal - word for word
Paraphrase - thought for thought.
The literal are more accurate,
Paraphrase are easier reading.
You will get the same meaning from all of them, they are not as far off from one another as non believers would have everyone believe. I would suggest you pick any one of them and you will find the truth in it.
Catholics add some extra books, but they really do not meet the level of competence that the 66 books of the Bible do.

There were five versions of the KJV, created over a 150 year time period, with the last one being the one that sufficiently agreed with the beliefs of the time.
