There were no stoned hippies in the days when the Bible was written. You have to realize the last book of the Bible was written in 96 AD.
You might also realize that until about 200 years ago, the world changed very little. People died where they were born. People followed the same culture and traditions of their parents. It has only been in the last 200 years that knowledge has exploded, things were invented, and people moved from where they were born.
In the days of the writers of the Bible, they had to write by candlelight or lanterns. They had to travel by foot, horseback, camel, or boats with oars. You have to realize that the Magi walked and rode camels for nearly two years to get to Bethlehem.
The world has had major changes in the last 200 years.
Every book in the Bible was written by men called by God to lead His people or to be a prophet for His people.
Try reading the gospel of John and the letters of John to get some real meat about what the Bible is all about.
Then come back to this forum and ask a question of Theophilus and if I can find it in the midst of all this rubbish, I will answer it too.
As to the OTHER answers, I see those who believe the Bible was written by 40 men to inspire others to good works or something of that sort. That there is too much violence to be a book inspired by God.
My comment is God chose a good man when He chose Abram.
Abram was not perfect, but he did his best to do as God asked of him.
However as we travel through time we find that God had a difficult time with the people he had chosen. The Jews were never happy and complained about how God was treating them.
He give them manna when they wanted quail, and on and, on and on.
They wished they were back in Egypt in the slave pits where they knew what to expect and not on the desert with the unknown.
When they arrived at their land, they married daughters of pagans, a direct violation of what God had told them to do.
They erected images of the false gods of the pagans and worshipped them instead of the God that walked with them for 40 years in the desert.
I think it is the people God had to deal with that makes God look like an unjust God.
But, when He told them He would bring people into the land to destroy the land and take them into captivity if they did not straighten up, He waited over a hundred years to carry out his promises to destroy their land and send them away.
Also, scholars have gone back and looked at the Hebrew and Greek and found very few differences between the original and the present day Bible.

Revelation is, but nothing else is trippy enough IMO.
I particularly like this copy of the bible I once saw where revelation 9:1 - 6 reads as follows (paraphrased)
`And those who did not bear the mark of God on their heads were slain. Those who did were tortured for 5 months, and every second shall have felt like an eternity and they shall have prayed for death`.
Which makes me wonder why the online version reads differently since this one makes more sense...

despite if I provide you your interpretation of the verse, you ought to remember the Egyptians had an emense awareness of astronomy as much as 1500 years in the previous the 1st books of the previous testomony have been written. there is various data showing the Bible barrowed from the two Egytian and Greek predecessors (who have been additionally knowledgable astronomers of the time). that for the period of techniques, it does no longer be unusual for a number of their awareness to finally finally end up interior the Bible long after the certainty. in case you keep all of it in context, the Bible shows the earth is flat and on the middle of the universe, which belies your assertion that it contains some sort of clinical perception. Psalm ninety 3:a million: “Thou hast fixed the earth immovable and company ...” Psalm ninety six:10: “He has fixed the earth company, immovable ...” Psalm 104:5: “Thou didst restoration the earth on its beginning place so as that it by no skill could nicely be shaken.” Isaiah 11:12 12 And he shall set up an ensign for the international locations, and shall convey at the same time the outcasts of Israel, and convey at the same time at the same time the dispersed of Judah from the 4 CORNERS OF THE EARTH. (KJV) Is. 40:22 "this is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to stay in..." a circle, of direction, is two dimensional. IOW- flat. EDIT- you constructive make some ridiculous parallels. i could recomend checking some time lines additionally. while "the flood" got here approximately has no longer something to do with it. The question rides on while the Bible verse in question grew to become into written. And Mount Everest grew to become into no longer created via a flood. Whoever gave you that concept grew to become into blowing smoke. Sry. Everest grew to become into formed over 60 million years in the past (approximately fifty 9,994,000 years in the previous the Biblical flood) via huge techtonic pass. no longer flood water. the shown fact that we come across fossilized remains of ocean creatures on mountain tops around the planet in straightforward terms pass to coach this. i don't know what you're attempting to get at with the crusing diatribe. distinctive cultures have sailed the oceans because of the fact the daybreak of recorded historic previous and particularly in all probability long in the previous. How does this help your assertion in any way?

I think the bible was made up by someone on drugs, but not weed, maybe the Bronze age version of crack or heroine. People that read the bible become more agressive and not less agressive.

The Bible is the owners manual for a relationship with GOD. If you do not have a relationship with GOD then the Bible will appear silly and trippy. Imagine having a manual for a bread maker and you do not own one. What do you think you would get out of it?

"hippie" probably isn't the best word to use here. that implies that it was written in the late 60s and early 70s.
Anyway, it doesn't make sense in places, but in a lot of places it makes more sense that anything.
A good book to read is "The Case for Christ".
Anyway, Merry Christmas.

It's a book of claims, now legal claims, do you believe god gave the Israelites Israel or was it a claim the wrote for future generations and is blessed with god believing people, mainly Christians, did go create man. that's another claim

I don't think it was written by a bunch of stoned hippies, it was written by intelligent people inspired by God , so that we can learn from their devine inspired writting the ultimate message of God, that is His Love.
Don't just read the bible, contemplate on its content, its relevance to your life and i pray that one of this day God will reveal Himself to you and you will be able to feel the warmth of His Love.
Be patient.
