Jesus was born, lived and died as a devout Jew. He did not "follow the Christian religion" as someone else posted. Jesus did not come to do away with Judaism but rather, to remind the Jews of their own identity as God's chosen ones and to live out that identity with a deeper faithfulness. He also came to reconcile his own people to the Father. Christianity is NOT a supercessionist religion...in order for Christianity to be true, Judaism must be true.

Jesus was Jewish. Christianity is like a form of Judaism. The apostle paul spoke about the contrast between physical jews who had as a sign of their status circumcision of the foreskin and spiritual jews who have as a sign of their status curcumcision of the heart, which is a form of spiritual motivation. Jesus would nave been circumcised in the foreskin and the heart, he would have been brought up as a jew and would have worshipped as a jew. So, I can't prove you wrong, because you're right.

I'm Jewish, and I don't think you'll have any argument that he was born a Jew, so sorry, I won't prove you wrong.

A Jew is anyone who was born of a Jewish mother so he fits the bill.

Others claims of him being a devout Jew or someone's claim that Christianity is a "from of Judaism" on the other hand, is basically false.

He was born of a Jewish woman, but Genetically, no he wasn't, and yes he was. He was a perfect human being, with all the genetic material of Adam, the man who brought sin into the world. He carried all the genes that created all of us. So, he was, in that had carried the genes of the Jews, but he wasn't because he also carried all the genes of everyone else.

As a perfect human being, his base skin color may have been red, as one of the meanings of Adam is Red Man. But, with 18+ years of working in the Sun, he was likely well tanned, but not to the point of having leathery skin, as his immune system was strong enough to resist the bad affects of UV radiation. He would have been a very strong man, because of his trade as a carpenter under Joseph. I would imagine that with the mental and physical abilities of Jesus, they likely had a very successful family business.

Yes, he was Jewish. Christianity didn't exist before Jesus...

Edit: To the above person who said he followed christianity...
Jesus _was_ christianity. He followed only the word of God and largely ignored previous teachings like the old testament. It was only later that the old testament was bound to teachings of Jesus' life to make the modern bible.
