the best thing you can do, is keep being a friend to him and build on that and the other will come along in time if it's meant to happen.
Perhaps before, you did not establish a proper friendship, wheras now you have the opportunity to work on that and leave the other alone.
You cannot force him into a relationship with you again, if this is not what he wants at this time. He may change his mind in the future if he feels more bonded to you through being friends.
You can do a thing, give it time! Also, do not shut yourself off from other prospects if they should happen to come along in the meantime, but definitely be a good friend to him! And wait and see.

You broke up for a reason, and your ex has made it clear that he's moved on and just wants friendship from you. All you can do is remain friends, don't push him into a corner, otherwise you'll lose him as a friend. Maybe one day you'll get back together, and friendship is a good base to build on. Good luck and Happy Christmas

Having a friend is better than a busted relationship anyway. Be glad that he wants a friendship with you, enjoy that, and move on to the next romantic relationship. There is always another one around the corner.

Do you want to ruin the friendship completely? I'd say you don't. Calm yourself, take it, and move on. Seriously, if you try for any more than that, you'll no longer have a friend, who could ultimately turn out to be the best of friend you'd ever have.

Try to let him go...I know it's hard but if he doesn't want you back you shouldn't insist..things might get worse. Try spending time with friends, throw or hide things that can remember you of your ex and think that life goes on...Meet new people, feel your time with something, don't let memories invade your mind and soul...Good luck with this!and remember..life is BEAUTIFUL if u let it be.

i would say just to tell him if he wants to work things out. if not, move on and maybe stay just friends. just respect his decision...we all want things our way but i don't know what happened. whatever it is. if he really wanted this then he would want to work it out. if not, maybe his feelings have changed i mean he cares as a friend but wants time off/look for someone else.

Just enjoy the friendship, if it is a true one. Wished my ex would be worth my friendship, but he is not even worth a bullet to shot him.
