Depends on what you call hot.

I went to a friends house once and they had some sort of chilli dish... well that's what they called it. I asked for chilli sauce and proceeded to pour it on.. They were all flabergasted.. The Dad said "you better be careful, that's hot sauce" I said sure sure, and then grabbed a teaspoon and ate a full one worth of straight chilli sauce.. It wasn't even hot for me.. They were sweating eating the dish with the same chilli sauce in minute quantities and no added stuff...

But then again

I was at another friend's house and I asked for the chilli sauce and I got the same warning about it being hot. I thought sure sure and slathered it on my steak... It was so hard to stop my eyes watering and nose tingling - I tried to hide it while they were laughing and poking fun at me because of my *********.

The hottest sauce I have tried (which I can't really handle more than a toothpick worth) was Dave's insanity sauce. Apparently it's not the hottest around but it was darn hot.. My dad could still take a teaspoon of it straight though..

I used to frequently win hot sauce eating contests. Or, how many hits of Tabasco in a Bloody Mary- 'loser buys'.

But in the last few years, the side affects of medicine have made even mildly hot foods unbearable.

I miss the good hot stuff, as there was lots of flavor in addition to HOT.

Ahhhhh the memories.

Can't get it too hot for me. I like a bowl of beans (pinto or great northern) and a long hearty shake with Tabasco sauce. Then shake some more in. Grab a chunk of crusty cornbread.....YUM! (Louisiana hot sauce isn't hot enough for me in bean soup.)

I like the flavor it adds to food but not so hot that it burns my face off. Also, when ever I eat roast beef or prime rib there MUST be a bowl of horseraddish on the table. lol Happy holidays!

I love hot sauce. I love anything spicy; curry, cheese dip, salsa, and guacamole.
