if he went thru the necessary procedure/requirements like submitting the police clearances and identifcation papers to the consulate.. If he has the passport.with a page showing visa clearly printed .

If this is a Russian girl who is asking for plane fare and is showing her visa to prove she's really going to visit you, this is a well-known scam and the visa is counterfeit.

If it's a US visa, email a scan of it to me, and I can tell you if it's real.
