I was given anfranil by some dumb doctor when I was 14 for supposed OCD it caused sexual side effects are they permanent?
I have been off the drug for 13 years my performance is just not as good as it should be im 25 im healthy I dont have OCD only took the meds for about 2 months will they cause permanent side effects because of its effect on your serotonin level and its receptors in the brain? If anyone takes meds or has taking antidepressant but are now off of them are the side effects Peramanent?

SIde effects are not permanent. Whatever is causing your perceived loss of performance is not the drug you took over 10 years ago. You may have some sort of other problem. I don't understand what "my performance isn't as good as it should be" By what sort of standard are you measuring yourself? That standard may be totally bogus....

I've had sexual side effects from several antidepressants...and the problem always stopped shortly after I discontinued those particular meds. It isn't immediate or sudden, it kind of happens gradually but it generally doesn't take long. I have never, ever heard of antidepressants causing permanant sexual side effects (and I do an insane amount of research on the subject.)

Hello =)
EEESH!!!!
The side effects should not have been permanent, however, since you took this medicine at age 14, the changes in brain chemistry may have modified the way in which you developed in certain ways.
You didn't specify in "which ways" your performance is suffering??
You'd have to be more specific for me to form a specific opinion about this, but in general I'd say that the likelihood is no.......

No. The side effects are not permanent. If you are having problems, then something else may be going on. Talk to your doctor about it and see what he suggests. Sometimes it's just stress or something in your diet, or it might be something else that should be taken care of. Good Luck.

have you been suffering from the same problem since you were 14 or did it just show up recently? If yes for the primary, then it could have possibly effected your performance, but if yes for the latter, then the answer is NO...

Sexuality is governed more by your general state of sensuality - as well as the partner you are with. While anti-depressants may slow you down it will not inhibit you in the long term. Relax and feel at peace with who you are and love the one you are with - this is the main component.
