Simple, just watch the Animal Kingdom to understand the male animal. Males and females have the instinct to procreate. Males have the territorial instinct as they want to procreate with every female they can. Human males are like this too. But because of civilization we have culled this instinctive behavior to having only one mate. That is one reason, the male is horny all the time. Now guys that are possesive are letting their instincts control them. Some are just low esteem guys. Some guys think that it is ok for them to fool around but get mad or possessive if their female friend tries to do it too.

they are afraid of losing you and they love you very much...also sometimes us girls perceive our boys to be possesive when it could just be he is being protective when he sees a situation that is not good for us and because we want to do the certain thing he has disapproved of we see them as possesive

We are all part of the animal kingdom and our behaviours are like that of animals too sometimes. It is survival of the fittest and the strong gets to propogate their genes. Look at the big cats, e.g. the male lions are very possessive of their females and they will fight to the death to keep them. It is the same instinct with men. As males, the instinct is to be possessive of their women and to mark them as theirs. Even with the veneer of civilisation, basic instincts still creep up on us.

From my experiences, insecurity will kill a relationship faster than anything. It's nice to know that they care, but sometimes things can get taken a little too far.
I would steer clear of these types.

They need control because they don't feel loveable as they are...same reason why people are so intoxicated by a new person digging them. We do almost everything socially, to get the feeling that we are noticed and vallidated, and ultimately loveable.

Insecurity. They suffer low self-esteem and worry that they are not enough to hold onto you. So they go overboard with stupidity and drive women away with their overly possessive actions.

Because most women are born cheats and flirts. Guys have every reason to be afraid. Girls these days cheat for any reason they like and the guy gets blamed. Possessiveness is our way of trying to maintain the status quo. We're happy with what we have, but women are always on the prowl for something better.

Why are some girls sooo possesive? I dunno they just are, mainly b/c of insecurities, for the power...but in my experiences I know WAY more girls who are more possesive than guys.

they're insecure so are jealous and want you for themselves and are afraid you may leave
they are controlling, like control, and believe a man should be like this because he has power over a women...something usually they develop from their childhood and how they see male figures behave.
just two reasons it could be.
