Many people today just think that people sign up for the military just because it's a ticket to get out or to further their education but in actuality if it wasn't for the military then right now you wouldn't have all of the freedom you got. So when people decide to join the military you should be glad that someone is brave enough to risk their life for millions of people like you all to be free.

B/c ppl are weak minded and have many liberal thoughts such as the one you just said.

When I think of military I think of heroes who fight for those they have and never will meet. They risk their lives at the expense of ppl who could care less and for others who give all their thx.

Death is a part of life...its a part of the military, its a part of everything we do from driving a car to sleeping at night. Ppl overlook the fact that ppl die every single day from the most ridiculous things, they only want to use our soldiers deaths at a way to win their political battle and its sad.

Right on.... The education is a nice perk though. When you sign up for the military you know there is a chance you may never make it out. People don't realize it, but war is not the number one cause of death in the military BY FAR. It's actually car wreaks. I couldn't even count how many of my fellow service members died in a car wreak, but I could tell you each one of them that died in the line of duty. They weren't on the front lines, I was in the Navy. The flight deck is one of the most dangerous places to work in the world and I have seen it to be true.

Well I know people in the military who are just into killing. I also know many military who are no like that at all.

I know a lot of movies portray this aspect of being in the military as the primary thing. It is as if soldiers and officers learn 2 things, running around and killing things. Which of course they do learn, along with many other things as well.

So you are both right to point out the problem and wrong to see it in only one way.

People who join the military are trained from the moment the arrive at boot camp how to kill people. This is what their main function is. Military = Killing = Death.

People associate the military with death probably because they go out to kill & get killed in wars that are mostly unjustified.

What do you mean by "free," ace? If anyone really has to risk his or her life for his or her fellow Americans to be "free," is that person really "free"?

Furthermore, when you say, "risk their life," don't you somehow entertain notions of, er um uh, death?
