I cooked turkey with vegetables and all the trimmings, followed by home made apple pie and cream.
Delicious, and cost about £20.00, plus gas and electricity about £1.00.

At the Queen Victoria Market in Melbourne, we got a huge piece of fillet steak (served about 10) for $16aus (about 6.40 pounds) We spent about $20 on veg, another $20 on fruit, and got 5 kilos of nectarines for - wait for it - a dollar. That's 40p. This food all lasted for days, so I guess our Christmas dinner cost about 3.50 pounds per head. What makes food expensive anywhere in the world is going to the supermarket. We were in Bangkok last month, and while eating out is cheaper (and fabulous) if you shop in the posh supermarket, it's almost UK prices
