Well......

In Hinduism (actually, the old Brahmanism of 3000 years ago), Brahma (the Bull) created the universe, but, as the earth sank into the ocean, he pondered what he could do about it. As he did so, a giant boar came from his nostril, and instead of pondering, lifted the earth with his tusks, and saved it from the deluge. If I am not mistaken, this god was Sveta??

Common animals, in this way, were to be revered, and not harmed, as they were the symbols of these mighty gods. It isn't as if a common bull created the universe, but a bull was the symbol of the god who did.......

As a child, I always thought that eating lamb was sort of disrespectful, being raised christian, since christ was the lamb of god. I still have never eaten lamb to this day, or veal for that matter.

Now, as a Buddhist, I prefer to eat the meat of the largest animals possible, to avoid as much suffering as possible..... so, the meat of cows and pigs is most preferable. Considering that 1 cow or pig would feel your family for many months, but a chicken or large fish would only feed your family for 1 meal. But each has a life, and in order to live, one must take a life (or become a vegetarian, which is not advisable, when one is diabetic).

Religion sure has a way of complicating life, doesn't it??

Namaste, and Happy Holidays,

--Tom

God made these creatures and we consider them as animals. You yourself tell me can you adopt the lifestyle of an animal,no you won't.God has made us man the most wise among these living creatures. We as human can think, judge make decisions. These animals when they get hurt we cure them, they don't cure us.They indeed do lift us,make us happy .I believe that Hinduism is a religion that will come to an end.Its truly said about these guys that God made you and you made gods.

Much of the World's turmoil is caused by religions who can't agree on God and God doesn't seem to supply any help.

When anything can be called god the word pretty much loses it's meaning. Not to mention pigs and cows are natural, not supernatural like me.
