I understand ambulance people, nurses, police, etc., but there's a fair few people working at their PC today so what is it that you do for a job that you need to be at work for.
Oooooh, awful grammatic sentence, I know, but I have hit the sherry HARD this morning and my typing is starting to deteriorate ....

At least you get to drink sherry...
I'm a civilian contractor in Iraq and work every day. Some days are 14 hours, some are 7 or 8, and some days don't end (like when I'm escorting people to different locations).
The good thing about being over here at this time of year (maybe the only one) is that there's no Mall traffic and lines at the cash register to deal with. Oh, and the after-Christmas sales free-for-alls, too.

Thank you for asking, and have a great Merry Christmas!

I'm a help desk analyst for a company that gives support 24 hours a day - 365. I just got hired a couple months ago so the people that have been here for a while get the holidays off. But that's ok, I get paid double time and 1/2 on Holidays.

I work as a home carer.
I go into the elderly clients homes twice daily to help with showering, taking medication, having meals and sometimes shopping.
Today is a hard day as many of my clients have no family to share it with.
Often I need to just spend time sitting and chatting, it can make me late for the next client. But what can you do, I'm the only social contact many of them have any day, let alone Christmas day.
Like others it is a job that does not stop for Christmas.

I am at work today. I work for a company that does medical billing for hospice patients. We make the final days of life pain and worry free. If a patient needs emergency meds and the nurse has to go get them, we make sure there are no problems at the pharmacy.
