Because people do not understand it, that's why.

Christians in particular believe that their religion is the only way and that those of other religions are deceived by the devil. as Pagans have many gods, Christians believe their gods are demons in disguise. Pagans also work with magic too, and that is scary as Christians don't know what the heck it is, and they believe it's to do with the devil.

Pretty understandable really.

I used to be a Christian, a Pentecostal, and Paganism scared the bejeezus out of me. Now guess what? I am a Pagan! Haha. And it's no big deal, it's just the same as any other religion.

Its intolerance.
I would say that its ignorance, but this is the modern age.If someone doesn't know what Paganism they can look it up either on the net or in a book. Or God forbid ask one of us Pagans what paganism truly is.I think that once the Christan faith(for example) took old pagan traditions & made them their own. They just denied it & labeled anyone who disagreed with this fact, lying evil heathens. These terms were latter used to discribe Pagans.I beleive this is when the words Pagan & Paganism became stigmitized.
A Heathen is definded as a person without faith.

The word Pagan means 'country people'. Religions always have bad things to say about earlier religions. They are hiding the fact that religions prior to Paganism during Egyptian Culture believed that God was a woman called Goddess. Just imagine how they would bad mouth her.

All religion is paganism. To me paganism and all religion are the same bunch of sheep led to the slaughter. People practice religion and paganism to feel omnipotent or to appear as if they have a clue. None of which is remotely true. Religion and paganism is just ignorance and denial of realizing you know only the tactile and nothing else.

The teachings in the Holy Books of the Messengers of the One True God are the standards for all good things.
However, it is wrong to treat anybody brutally. The core teachings of all religions is love and unity. But each individual understand the truth differently, so there should be moderation in all human relationships.

heavenly ,thus when mentioned, probably the first thing that
people perceive in their minds is something not religious
at all, however as any group in society ,its your own decision
to choose your religious beliefs,so it is important to you what
other people think,? wright or wrong, your are responsible
for the decisions you choose in life

Because people are too ignorant to actually learn about someone else's beliefs, so instead they just bad mouth them. They think we are worshiping a devil we don't believe in, and bewitching people and a whole bunch of other bull. It's not bad at all, it's just that people fear what they don't understand, and because of that they refuse to become educated about it.

It's a counterfeit godliness.

Religion = People reaching out to God.
Christianity = God reaching out to people.

Most times, those who practice the pagan (especially, Muslim and even some so-called Christian) religions do so to control and oppress others for power over them or material gain.

It's not Gods fault if we get it wrong. He's gone to great lengths to help us understand Him and bring us to Him.

Because the ultimate goal of paganism is to convince you that your own desires and pleasures are the only ones that matter in life. If you'll look at politics on the world scale you can see how that philosophy has worked out for everyone.
