why was china so aginst the idea of the llama

becuase china was going through the cultural revolution along with communist aspects, and faith, and more specifically a leader of faith could not be accepted

China is a totalitarianism country. They believe only one way of governing is correct. Religion of any sort can be seen as a threat to their rule. They have attempted to control or ban many religions.

Plus China wanted to annex Mongolia, where the Dalai Lama was the spiritual leader and where he used to reside.
