This is one of the best questions I've encountered on this Website.So much so I looked at my box my Sony Cyber-shot came in and it says made in Japan. I would think it wouldn't matter if the specs are the same no matter where you are.Tthat's how camera will be built.

China mass produces. They only care about selling and making money. Just so their products look similar and perform similarly.
(black market products)
Japan has the technology, and they make quality products.
They have never shown any lack of quality. Always innovative
and at the cutting edge of technology. They back up their products with factory warranties or money back guarantees.
When was the last time you were interested in purchasing a car from China??? (an example just to shed light on the difference between their reputation)
How about Japan???
Lexus, Acura, Toyota, Nissan, Infinity....
Audio and Video???
Sony, Nakamichi, Toshiba, Sam Sung..... the list goes on and on.
Sony is a Japanese product, It's sounds pretty fishy to me if it says made in china.

Well let me tell you I HAVE been to China and Japan and their is no difference. It's the brand that matters. In Japan they get paid more to make cameras.

lot lot of difference. u just cant compare them. Japan made are the best one. china made are worst one.

often talking, something made in Japan would be of extra suitable high quality simply by their bigger high quality administration. (this would not propose chinese language-made stuff is crap....they make some magnificent products.)
