Any device (including laboratory devices and large industrial complexes) that refines a product into one or more other products is a refinery. In most cases, 'refinery' specifically means 'oil refinery'.

An oil refinery processes crude oil (pumped straight from the ground) into several grades of oil as well as other products.

These usually include:
Methane
Propane
Various lubrication oils and greases
Kerosene
Gasoline
Diesel Fuel
Various plastics

Refinery, from its name implies "refining" something.
It could be an oil refinery which refines crude oil and convert it to maore valuable products.
The name refinery is called also on several industry activity where there is a "refining" process such as smelting metals or a winery.

Refinery means any raw liquid (oil) purified by the
Process of heating, Filtering and separates the by-products.For instance palm oil, crude oil & groundnut oil are the refined and geting pure one.
