my daughter plays the sims all the time, so i'm going to let her write this one ---
the origional sims was released in 2000.
you can create your own people (sims) give them jobs, have them fall in love and have kids, etc.
now they have the sims 2, which is a lot more advanced than the regular sims. you have many more options when creating your sims. you can give them their own eye color, hair color and style (including some crazy ones), make up, specific facial features, a pair of clothes for every occasion, their own aspiration in life (family, love, money, popularity, and knowledge)
they have various expansion packs which you and install that add on to your origional game.
For instance, in the sims 2 there is University: sims can go to college, and therefor have opportunities to more careers than those who dont.
Nightlife: a new neighborhood is made that has many clubs you can visit, sims can have cars, and go on dates. there is the new "pleasure" aspiration where it seems that all they want to do is go out on the town and have a good time. you also have chemistry with other sims due to your choice of 2 turn ons and 1 turn off when you are creating your sim.
Open for Business: sims can create their own at home business, or purchase one in a community lot, and hire their own employees
and Pets: sims can adopt cats and dogs. the pets can be trained to do various commands like "roll over" and "speak" etc. they can even have their own pet careers. they can be in the service career, entertainment career, etc. you can also breed your pets.
if you happen to like the game, it's rather addictive. i'll spend hours upon hours playing with people i've created (i've even created myself a few times) it's quite interesting to make your own family and friends.
if you want to see pictures or get a better idea of what im trying to explain (i have no clue how this all sounds to a person who's never heard of the sims before) just go to Wikipedia, type in "the sims" in their search engine, and it will lead you right to the page.
a link to the sims 2 will be in the first sentence
hope this helped! <3

The Sims is a computer game in which the player controls simulated human beings and can make them perform a variety of actions, such as dating, going to work, etc.

The "Sims" are an interactive computer game. "Sims" for "simulation", possibly.
They have different games, but you have to make them do stuff, like get jobs, clean the house, eat, make friends and relationships, etc.
I've only played their "house" game, which is fun and very addictive.

It's a game. A simulation of real life, you have to cook for them, or actually make them cook. Your previous question....
